Over the last two decades the advent of information and communication technologies have significantly changed the landscape of our daily life in todays world. This is particularly true for developing countries like India, where the growth and use of IT and emerging technologies, penetration of mobile communication and the internet have been unprecedented. Indeed, information is now available anytime anywhere, only a key stroke away. However, the main technical challenge is how to manage such information explosion efficiently, reliably and securely. How to mine information at scale to extract meaningful knowledge.


Growing interdisciplinary studies worldwide is a consequence of fast computing devices and easy access to knowledge and information through internet. Use of computers has changed every walk of life in a manner unimaginable in past 10-20 years. Information technology has also emerged as a new field in this era. Therefore, keeping pace with the recent advances in Information Technology is the need of the hour. In order to expose younger generation to vistas of mordern sciences and technology, SGRRITS introduced Computer Applications Programme in 1994. The learning process is proactive and class atmosphere is synergistic with interactive and participative reviews, discussions and debates.

  • State-of-the art fully air conditioned computer labs with 300 terminals having latest hardware and software configuration.
  • Separate labs are dedicated to MCA & BCA students with latest original progamming softwares.
  • Separate microprocessor and digital lab for carrying out hardware based practicals.
  • Classrooms and computer labs are equipped with latest LCD projectors and OHP projectors for audio visual interaction.
  • Internet facility available through 15 Mbps leased line internet connection through Wi-Fi.
  • Computer lab with power backup support through seven centralized online UPS and 82 KVA generator.
  • Separate lab dedicated for Software Development Cell(SDC), responsible for development of softwares for live projects, solely managed by students.

Many companies such as Accenture, Wipro, SPICE, Cynotek technologies etc. conducted placement drive on our campus.

Most of BCA/B.Sc (IT) students gets selected in Accenture, Wipro and TCS.

Ond day IBM's associated cloud workshop on Bluemix was conducted by Dr. Mayank Agarwal, HOD, Dept of CSE, Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar On 7th Nov 2015.

One day workshop on Web Designing and Development was conducted by Arsal Software Solution, Dehradun on 10th Oct 2015.

Workshop on Android technologies by Ducat Noida on 10th Sep 2015.

One day workshop on 'Data Centre Disaster Recovery And Planning' by International Software Minds, Chandigarh on 10th Oct 2015.

Seminar on 'Career Prospects In IT Sector' by Mr. S.S. Kunwar, IBM Noida.

Several IT companies have been invited for the placement purpose. Many students have been selected for on the job training and 60% have got direct recruitment oppurtunity.

Department have organized several workshops and guest lectures on various topics such as PHP, MySQL, Android and IEEE workshop on online access of the journal.

Organized various guest lectures by renowned academician/industrialist such as Dr. Mayank Agarwal GKV Haridwar, Dr. Manish Kumar, IIT Roorkee, C.J Godfrey Rajan from Clasle Knowledge Pvt. ltd. Chennai.

Industrial Visits for MCA/BCA students to Jaipur, Shimla, Chandigarh etc. Several companies were covered such as ONGC Dehradun, Intex Pvt. Ltd., Baddi (HP), Betasoft Chandigarh, HP Rudrapur etc.

Interactive session held between teachers and parents for the benefits of students.

Technical and aptitute test conducted by IT-Brain shapers, Noida to gauge students and prepare them for future challenges.

Regular personality development programs and sessions conducted for MCA/BCA/B.Sc.(I.T.) students.

A bi-annual newsletter 'TECHTIMES' is published covering recent happenings of Tech World, Campus briefs etc.

Students of the department organized various activities such as teacher's day celebration, MCA/BCA/B.Sc(I.T.) freshers and farewell party.

A team of MCA and BCA students won a trophy in the event 'Code Warriors' and participated in 12 different events in TechFest organized by IMS Dehradun.

Papers were presented by faculties at various national and international level seminars and conferences.

Students of MCA and BCA won first and second prizes in different events in the Tech Fest held at the Tula's Institute and UPES Dehradun.
