Over the past few decades pharmaceutical sciences has made tremendous progress and has undergone radical development emerging as a separate discipline with a unique blend of medicine and technology.

The future of Pharmaceutical Industry in India seems to be bright. In the present scenario of globalization, WTO, GATT & IPR issue it will continue to discover, develop and market life saving medicines thereby improving quality of life. With the entry of large Multinational Pharmaceutical Companies the scenario has changed leading to increased demand of Pharmacy Graduates and Post Graduates.


With the advent of clinically oriented Pharm.D Course Pharmaceutical Science graduates and post graduates have an important commitment to the health care team, of which they are an integral part. Pharmacovigilance has emerged as the new buzz world, and Pharmacists are well equipped to take up the challenge.

Dept. of Pharmaceutical Sciences, was established in the year 1997 with the primary aim of imparting quality education & practical skills to young professionals, conclusively contributing effectively to the field of pharmacy education. We are the front runners in the field with the sole aim of striving towards a healthy & prosperous society.

Activities

One day workshop on "DOTS Tuberculosis (TB) training for community Pharmacist/Retail Chemist" organised by Division of Pharmaceutical Sciences, SGRRITS, in joint collaboration with "Ministry of Health & family welfare" and Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) on 10th May 2015. This workshop was first of its kind in the state of Uttarakhand.

In the service of Profession, Quarterly Newsletter on the trends, opportunities & challenges in Pharmacy Practice "Clinical Pharmacy Communique" published & circulated by the department.

Uttarakhand's First Colloquim on "Pharmacist Practitioner & Pharmacovigilance-The Road Ahead", at Division of Pharmaceutical Sciences, SGRRITS, in association with Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) was organised for the first time in Uttarakhand State which was a huge success.

Society for Ethnopharmacology, an affiliate of International Society for Ethnopharmacology, (ISE- United Kingdom) Local chapter at Division of Pharmaceutical Sciences, SGRRITS. Prof. (Dr.) Preeti Kothiyal, Director, SGRRITS, is coordinator for local chapter.

First and the only institute to host International Conference on Pharmaceutical Science (ICPS-2014) in Uttarakhand and provide an excellent platform for the pharmacy professional to indulge in face to face conversation with Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) President Prof. B. Suresh, expert from World Health Organisation, Switzerland, Dr. Shanti Pal, Vice President Centre for Responsible Nutrition USA, Dr. James Griffith and host of other eminent personality from academic, regulatory and industrial background.
